Chicago native and 16 year NBA Veteran, Nazr Mohammed, founded the Nazr Mohammed
Foundation (NMF) in 2012. The NMF serves as a gateway to giving back to the community, helping improve Chicagoland schools and other educational initiatives. Mohammed’s philanthropy extends far beyond the City of Chicago as he continues to raise funds and awareness to organizations committed to community building and enrichment programs.
The Nazr Mohammed Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to support worthy causes through personal donations, fundraisers, camps, grants and scholarships. In addition, the NMF supports organizations in various ways to fulfill civic responsibility.

4th Annual Mohammed Foundation Fundraiser
Chicago native and 17‐year NBA veteran, Mohammed is a proud graduate of Kenwood Academy in Hyde Park and University of Kentucky where he won championships in 1996 and 1998 before becoming a first‐round draft pick in 1998. In 2014, Mohammed was awarded “BULL OF THE YEAR” by the Comcast’s ‘Sports Awards’ for his considerable contributions to his team, as well as the Chicago community.
Each year I choose a different cause to support and this year it was about raising awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),” explains Mohammed. It’s something I’ve been personally connected to through close friends and have come to understand the importance of research and advocacy so that early signs of ASD do not go unnoticed.”

3nd Annual Mohammed Foundation Fundraiser
Sixteen-year NBA veteran and former Chicago Bull Nazr Mohammed put the spotlight on diabetes research Aug. 1, as he welcomed 300 guests to the third annual Nazr Mohammed Foundation Fundraiser. Athletes and friends, including Joakim Noah, Dee Brown, James “Big Cat” Williams, Jerry Azumah and Israel Idonije filled Galleria Marchetti (825 W. Erie) for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, custom cigars and music by The Mo Fitz Project. Silent auction and raffle items such as Bulls tickets, a Gucci duffel bag, a Comcast SportsNet behind-the-scenes tour and autographed jerseys helped net more than $35,000 for the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center, which works to develop innovative treatments and cures for individuals with diabetes.

2nd Annual Mohammed Foundation Fundraiser
It was a night of celebration for Chicago Bulls’ center Nazr Mohammed who hosted the 2nd Annual Nazr Mohammed Fundraiser on Friday, August 9th at Pazzo’s (311 S. Wacker Drive) in downtown Chicago. Mohammed, who recently signed a one year deal with the Chicago Bulls, raised over $15k to benefit multiple charitable organizations that support youth advocacy and education.
The evening featured musical entertainment by Glen Lewis along with cocktails, dancing and celebrity guests such as Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics) and Antoine Walker (retired NBA player). The 50/50 raffle raised over $1700 for Kenwood Academy High School with an additional $5k donation by Mohammed. In addition, checks were presented in the amount of $5k each to Sue Duncan Children’s Center, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and Circ Esteem.

The Village Project is a weekend retreat for Chicago-area teens ages
14-18; that motivates, empowers and challenges participants to become positive role models within their peer groups.

2012 Annual Mohammed Foundation Fundraiser
In 2012, with the support of generous donors like you, the NMF executed a successful inaugural event resulting in a $40,000 grant to Kenwood Academy High School for capital improvements such as renovations to the gymnasium and the King Multi-purpose Room. A brand new floor and thresholds were installed in the gymnasium and the King Room now boasts new carpet, marker boards and projectors for students and faculty.
